CAMP fees – Am I getting bang for my buck?

We’ve received a few questions what the CAMP fees cover, so we thought we might tell you more about the CAMP experience, and what you will gain from it.

CAMP is more than a five day trip to Sydney: CAMP is a 3 month blended learning experience, bringing together leading young innovators from Australia and China for a world-class experience of hands-on learning.

The CAMP program is curated by Liu Yan, a leading Shanghai-based social innovator, leadership development and design thinking expert, and follows the latest principles of project-based learning and peer-learning.

Each CAMPer will join a ThinkTank, and focus on one key challenge posed by our industry partners. CAMPers will explore real solutions to the real problems of today and tomorrow.

For nine weeks, dedicated mentors, industry experts will challenge CAMPers through a range of guided activities, selected learning material, and facilitated online sessions. CAMP mentors will maximise opportunities for self-discovery, peer-learning, and cross-cultural training, while supporting the fast-prototyping of sustainable, achievable projects – new start ups, communities, research proposals, policies, products.

During five-days in Sydney, participants will join a dense program of carefully designed sessions, listen to world-class speakers – and take part in a broad range of informal learning and social activities, including a free BridgeClimb! (value $248). On day 5, we’re bringing funding to the room, and participants will have a chance to see if their idea can come to life with committed support from venture capital and government.

Three weeks of online off-ramping with mentors will allow CAMPers to bring these new skills into their own work and communities and cement the relationships you’ve formed. In the longer term, this experience will be a life-changing opportunity for self-discovery, and a chance to build strong personal connections with the great leaders of tomorrow.

Mentors, facilitators, designers, venues, catering, and all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly and the right people are in the room – all this does not come for free.  We valued the overall CAMP experience at over $8000, but through the support of our partners and sponsors, we’re able to offer a massively discounted fee of $888 (non-corporate) or $1888 (corporates and government).

The fee does not include flights and accommodation, but again, partnerships will support full and partial scholarships covering flights and accomodation for a large number of delegates, making the complete CAMP experience accessible for only $888 to those who demonstrate the strongest need and merit.

$888 for $8000 of value, it’s a pretty good deal. But we know some people may not be able to afford this – and don’t want price to keep talent out of the room. (Many of us ate 2 minute noodles putting ourselves through uni so we get it!) So we’ve set up a number of special offers:

  • CAMP will give a 20% discount if you apply with a friend by the 14th of February, and both of you are selected for CAMP.

  • CAMP will work with our partner Pozible to support your crowd-funding campaign, and help you raise the funds to support your attendance at CAMP from your community.

  • CAMP has a select number of internships and professional placements available. If you are able to volunteer 20-40 hours of your time to help build CAMP with us, we have a number of administrative and high-level tasks which you can help us with, and earn your way into CAMP.

To benefit from any of these, you need to apply as normal, and be accepted into the program first. Then we can have a chat on how we might be able to work together. So go ahead and apply for CAMP!
